With half of my year last year filled with sickness, exhaustion and general misfortune, I would spend most of my free time simply vegging and prioritising rest, so that I may “lick my wounds” and endure the following day.
In trying to reflect on the year, I found it difficult because, whilst going through the daily grind, I never gave myself enough time to actually reflect on what I had thought, or how I felt about things. I did not read as much as previous years because thinking frankly requires too much brain power. And with that, it all became a bit of a blur. Thankfully I take photos to document what I get up to, because without it, my memory would surely fail me.
As a way to assist in daily reflection, last year I bought a new iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil so that I could write and draw digitally. Bullet Journaling was a technique I had used for work to keep me focused on my daily tasks, but I did not really use it for my personal life. With my new digital drawing capabilities, I’m going to try digital Bullet Journaling this year. Through using the GoodNotes app, I have been able to design a weekly planner template that suits my needs so that I can still plan my work days, but also incorporate space for a daily gratitude practice to reflect on my day with positivity. I’ve also added space for a weekly exercise tracker as I want to improve my consistency with that as well. Also, with it being digital, I have the ability to import photos so I can stick them into my journal without the need to print them out.
After each month, I made a page to reflect on the month with space to add highlights that brought me joy.
If you are interested and would find my template useful, feel free to download it below. Let me know if you use it. I would love to know what you think!
